Located between Montreal and Ottawa just outside of a little town called
Lachute, Quebec is Wilgor Farms. Owner, Gordon McGibbon is one of the
pioneers in the Polled Hereford industry. Shooting at Wilgor Farms is
always something I look forward to despite the extreme heat and humidity
we endure every time, and this year was no exception. You build such
great relationships with people in this business, and seeing longtime
friends again is always something to look forward to. Michael Wilson,
the Farm Manager has been at Wilgor for almost 20 years now, and we've
worked together picturing the sale cattle for at least 10 of those. Billie Elmhurst, well known to many as a much respected Polled
Hereford breeder and cattlemen, has also been at Wilgor's to help with
the sale cattle photography for as long as I can remember. Billie and
Michael get the cattle washed, clipped and looking the part, and the
three of us work really well together making for a very productive and
successful photo shoot.

I commented to Gordon, "it's starting to look more like Wilgor Angus".
Over the last few years Gordon has been buying Angus cattle and some
damm good ones at that!! Just look at the pictures and video clips to
see for yourself what I'm talking about. Michael and I spent an hour in
the evening videoing the cows with bull calves in the pasture. The bull
calves were extremely impressive. Thick, stylish little buggers,
chalked full of red meat and muscle. Gordon has always had a knack for
picking the good ones, and selecting Angus cows to start this herd is no
exception. By the way, Michael owns some of the Angus cows as well.
Once again Wilgor has some excellent Polled Hereford genetics on offer
consigned in the Elmlodge Source For Success Sale held on September 15,
2007 as well as about half a dozen Angus selling in the Canadian
Highlight Sale held on September 29th, 2007.
Give Gordon or Michael a call at 450/562-6313 or 450/562-5112, and I
strongly encourage breeders to visit Wilgor Farms, trust me you won't be
disappointed. By the way, Gordon and I finally got in a round of golf;
we've only been talking about playing for the last 10 years!
