PA TWELVE
Gir (Gyr, Gur) cattle are a very distinctive breed originating from the southwest region of India.  Some characteristics of the breed include: long floppy ears, rounded forehead, large hump above the shoulder blades, and horns that grow back and upwards.  The Gir breed played a major factor in the development of the Brahman breed in North America.  Gir cattle are very intelligent and easy to work with due to their social nature, and are used for both dairy and beef production.

While photographing sale cattle at Shadybrook Farm in the picture pen, I looked across the road and noticed the big herd sire "Pure Gold" made his way up the pasture, peeking around the trees checking out the female I was photographing... typical male. Cattle and people are so much alike. You just never know when your photo might be the next cover shot in a publication.

The well respected "Business In Calgary" magazine wrote their cover story on us in their July 2007 issue. Just in time for Stampede! The article goes back to Walt and Marie's beginnings, and how our company has developed over the years to what it is now, a multi-media company. We've had a great response from friends all over the province as to how interesting the whole story really is!
